Grading Policy

Students will receive a written evaluation in the form of a report card each nine weeks period of school. This is typically given to the students by their lab instructor.

Incomplete work must be made up by the end of the next grading period. In order for this to be converted to a passing grade, the student must successfully complete what is agreed to by the student and the teacher. Written notice of grade changes must be completed by the instructor and given to the principal's office.


Students not complying with the attendance policy may lose credit for the semester in which they fail to meet minimum attendance requirements.

Credits will be granted by semester. Students who earn a grade of "F" during the second half of the semester will not earn credit for that semester regardless of the grade during the first half of the semester. Students who earn a grade of “F” during the first half of the semester must earn at least a “C-“ the second half of the semester in order to earn semester credit. Check out the following scenarios:

Scenario 1: Andy gets an A in science the first quarter of the first semester. In the second quarter, he receives a F in science. For the first semester he would not receive the 1/2 credit for science.

Scenario 2: Dave gets an F in social studies the first quarter of the first semester. In the second quarter, he receives a C- in social studies. For the first semester he would receive the 1/2 credit for science.

Scenario 3: Amy gets an F in social studies the first quarter of the first semester. In the second quarter, she receives a D in social studies. For the first semester she would not receive the 1/2 credit for science.

* Students must have at least a C- the second half of a semester in the case they failed the first half.

Scenario 4: Steve gets an A in science the first quarter of the first semester and a B In the second quarter. For this he would receive a 1/2 credit for the year. The second semester, he receives an F the third quarter and he receives a D for the fourth quarter. He would not receive credit the second semester but would still gain a 1/2 credit for passing the first semester.
